The dedication still went under way In Hollywood,Ca at the Capitol records Building as well as a few musical events around town centered around John Lennon...

Yoko made an appearance in the form of an avatar ..That is what you are in Second Life.. and she Danced .. Light her "ONOCHORD" and made a dedication speech..I will attach that as well as a link to the stream I personally have up from the tower ceremony that day.. It can be seen on flicker .. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for witnessing our humble gathering
For the unveiling of IMAGINE PEACE TOWER.
They say, if all the people in China were to jump up and down at the same time,
The axis of the globe would shift.
Well, we are here together. Billions of us.
Standing at the dawn of a new age determined to shift the axis of the world to health,
Peace and joy by loving and caring for all lives on Earth.
Some of us are here physically, some are joining us in spirit.
Some of us are imprisoned, tortured, maimed and silenced, but they are also here today with us.
Some of us have passed away before being able to enjoy a new age of love and peace.
But we are all here today standing together with hope.
The light is the light of wisdom, healing and empowerment.
Even in the moments of confusion, fear and the darkness of your souls,
Hold the light in your hearts,
And you will know that you are not alone,
That we are all together in seeing the light of peace.
I thank the people of Second Life, for giving so much love to this tower from its inception.
IMAGINE PEACE TOWER was visualized with love, and realized by love.
It is a gift from John and Yoko and the people of Second Life to the world.
I know that John is with us, too, in this land of Nutopia,
happy that the light tower is finally a reality after 40 years.

ISAF to cease offensive operations on UN Peace Day





KABUL, Afghanistan (Sept. 17) - General Stanley McChrystal, commander of International Security Assistance Forces in Afghanistan, announced today ISAF will not conduct offensive military operations on Sept. 21to observe the United Nations' International Day of Peace.

"I have directed my forces to support our Afghan partners in ceasing offensive operations on September 21," said General McChrystal. "This is consistent with our intent to help the national army and police take the lead in protecting the Afghan people from the Taliban and other enemies of peace."

McChrystal's decision follows Afghan President Hamid Karzai's announcement that Afghan National Security Forces will not conduct operations on Sept. 21. Karzai noted that ANSF may continue to defend themselves and the Afghan public from insurgent attacks, and ISAF maintains the same provision for self-defence.

AMID WAR, A RESPITE FROM CONFLICT AS AFGHANISTAN MARKS PEACE DAY

21 September 2009 - A rare 24 hour cessation of offensive operations marking International Peace Day appeared to be holding firm across Afghanistan on Monday, with only isolated security incidents reported as of late afternoon.

"So far things are certainly different from any ‘normal' day at this time of year. We're seeing almost no incidents at this point," said Nauludole Mataitini, Chief Security Adviser for the UN in Afghanistan.

Officials at both Afghanistan's Ministry of Defence and NATO's International Security Assistance Force said the day appeared much quieter than usual, with only a scattering of minor incidents and no serious casualties.

Staff in UNAMA's regional offices reported a similar situation. "It's very peaceful... hard to believe," said Gabriel Iribarne, Head of Office in Kunduz. As of mid-afternoon, and with the exception of a rocket in the Nareza area of Khost province's Tani district that landed without harming anyone, and an unconfirmed incident in Kunar, things looked quiet. "We know there has been activity in Kunar's Nari district but at this stage it is too early for us to state anything categorically," said Nicholas Hercules, Officer-in-Charge, Eastern Region.

International Peace Day was established by resolutions 36/67 and 55/282 of the UN General Assembly, and aims to achieve a day of global ceasefire and non-violence. Of the world's major conflicts, Afghanistan has come close to achieving the aim of a complete halt in hostilities thanks to major campaigns since 2007. On Peace Day 2008 the UN's Department of Safety and Security recorded a 70 percent drop in security incidents in Afghanistan. Peace Day 2009 falls during the Eid ul-Fitr celebrations and the hope has been that the coincidence of dates would result in an even bigger impact.

Ahead of this year's Peace Day Afghanistan's Government ordered its forces to stand down. A similar declaration halting offensive operations was made by ISAF. The Taliban agreed to support a Peace Day polio immunization drive last week.

Together they are collaborating with initiatives around the world, linking efforts to bring awareness to the annual global ceasefire which is observed by all United Nations. This amazing accomplishment was established in 2001 by 'Peace One Day', a global community founded and led by British film-maker Jeremy Gilley (Voice 0,000,000,278) On Peace Day 2007 in Afghanistan, thanks to the efforts of 'Peace One Day', during the ceasefire NGO’s were able to mobilise and reach people in previously isolated war zones, allowing 1.4 million children to be immunised for Polio.



Irish Nobel Laureate, Betty Williams is the latest Peace Pioneer to add her voice to Peace. Belfast born Betty was Motivated to make a difference in Northern Ireland leading 35,000 on a quest for peace in Northern Ireland and in recognition of her extraordinary action she was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize in 1976. Her great peace work continues today and she is one of the 10 Nobel Laureates initiative working with Youth called ‘Peace Jam’.

Talking about Peace in Our Lifetime's 'Global United Party for Peace' to mark World Peace Day, Betty Williams said:

"I encourage everyone around the globe to recognize and celebrate International Day of Peace on September 21st. This is a day to honour all of those groups and people who work for peace everyday, all year long. David is in a place now where there is no war.. Or pain.. He was very passionate on the War.. He was soo against it. David departed this life June 3, 2009 in Bangkok, Thailand while on location for a film. He will be sorely missed by family and friends the world over.
