Chairman and Chief Executive Officer -
John Paul Mitchell Systems

John Paul DeJoria's rags-to-riches biography exemplifies the American dream – he is a first-generation American turned entrepreneur, philanthropist, government servant, and pillar of the business community. John Paul DeJoria has struggled against the odds not only to achieve success, but to share this success with others. He knows firsthand what it's like to be the 'underdog,' and strives to help as many as possible overcome their challenges and achieve their full potential.

The prestigious Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans – an organization that honors selected individuals who have overcome humble beginnings and adversity to achieve success - recently recognized John Paul for his exemplary journey. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas inducted John Paul as a lifetime member in a ceremony that took place in the Supreme Court of the United States. Members of the Association – including such notables as Secretary of State Colin Powell, Former Secretary of State Henry A. Kissinger, Oprah Winfrey, Norman Vincent Peale, and J.C. Penney – mentor young people and sponsor over $5 million in Horatio Alger need-based scholarships awarded annually to high school seniors who have proven their ability to overcome adversity and humble beginnings.

We are just 5 days away from our sixth annual celebration of humanity known as Global Love Day on Friday, May 1, 2009.

Our theme is simply…

“Love Begins With Me”

We recognize this day as a symbolic expression that we can choose to love each and every day as we gather together and unite as a collective humanity through unconditional love.

We are one humanity on this planet.

All life is interconnected and interdependent.

All share in the Universal bond of love.

Love begins with self acceptance and forgiveness.

With respect and compassion we embrace diversity.

Together we make a difference through love.

Global Love Day May 1st 2009..Join me...

~~~All of you that know me... Know my passion for LOVE!
What better way to express it than on Global Love day May1st 2009....
This is being done by a dear friend and I urge all of you to join in this ..
For Love is a never ending circle of Light..Love ... and energy...
We are just one month away from our sixth annual Global Love Day on Friday May 1 2009.
~ Global Love day May 1st 2009~
It is our vision to unite one and all in a celebration of love and compassion. We honor each May 1st as a symbolic day of unconditional love and call upon all people and all nations to gather together in the wisdom of peace and love. Global Love Day is the universal recognition of our innate oneness through love where we naturally and easily embrace ourselves and our fellow humanity. Opening our heart, we allow unconditional love to be our guide and compassion to be our gift to life.
~What you Can Do~~~
Simply be love. Let the love within your heart be the focus of your awareness throughout the day. Allow yourself to be accepting, forgiving, peaceful, joyful and in harmony with yourself and all life around you. Just be! Allowing unconditional love to be your primary intention is the main idea, and if you find yourself also wanting to actually “do” something loving or share the day with others, we provide a variety of ideas to get you started. Visit click here for Global Love Day for more information.
World Water Day.. With Jewel.....
Project Clean Water....Message from Jewel
Clean water is a necessity that we can no longer take for granted. Each year more people die of water related diseases than any other cause of death on this planet. With a higher rate of suffering and mortality than diabetes, cancer, high cholesterol, or war; or any two combined for that matter! An entire economy is growing around water. Those without money are suffering the most and risk severe illness from contaminated sources.
Project Clean Water targets villages around the world with clean water problems, and finds sustainable solutions to provide them with safe drinking water. For example, in Tanzania, one village's inhabitants had to hike for miles to get water from a muddy hole for their families and cattle. We provided them with a solar paneled well system, and installed it with the tribesmen. In Tibet, one village's only water source was a stagnant amoebae filled pool. We installed a filtration system, which meant not only could they enjoy clean water, but also solved many of the health problems plaguing the village. Our aim is to work with communities and governments to protect clean water supplies while restoring contaminated sources.
To date we have helped over 30 communities overcome their individual drinking water problems in 13 different countries, on 5 different continents. I have funded the project through ticket sales and donations. We run everything in-house, therefore I can personally guarantee the quality of our project.
I became interested in clean water when I was 18 and lived in my car. I had sick kidneys and had to drink 2 gallons of purified water a day. I could not afford to buy much bottled water, and it dawned on me that if it was this hard to get clean drinking water in the United States, then it was probably a huge global issue. Boy, was I right.
Solutions and technologies exist to provide clean, affordable drinking water anywhere in the world. These solutions will save lives, reduce financial burdens, foster peace, and relieve millions of people from worrying about their next drink of water.
Red Velvet Media Supports Kid's Vs Global warming
Alec, 14 years old, is a Freshman at El Camino High School, in Ventura California.
He founded Kids vs Global Warming when he was 12 years old after watching Al Gore’s movie, “an inconvenient truth.” Feeling the weight of the global situation and a sense that he could make a difference, Alec felt compelled to tell other kids about the problems we are facing. His message is deeply rooted in hope, encouraging kids to speak up and let their voices be heard on this issue.
Alec created a presentation made specifically for youth, full of videos, animation, easy-to-understand science, and compelling motivation for kids K-college ages. He gave over 30 global warming presentations before being invited by Al Gore to be formally trained with the Climate Project in October of 2008. He is now the youngest trained presenter with The Climate Project.
