It's hard to believe, but former Beatle John Lennon would have been 70-years-old this weekend if he had not died a tragic death on a sad December morning nearly 30 years ago. To celebrate the life that touched so many people, birthday celebrations will take place around the globe. A weekend of activities are Happening!Yoko Ono will be in Iceland Saturday to perform and light the Imagine Peace Tower, a stone monument remembrance of Lennon in 2007.

In his native England here is what will be happening

1) Peace Monument

Liverpool

A global peace monument, entitled 'Peace and Harmony', created by US artist Lauren Voiers, will be gifted to the people of Europe to mark what would have been John Lennon's 70th birthday. The 18 foot monument will be unveiled by Lennon's eldest son Julian, who asked the artist to incorporate a white feather into the design, saying: "One of the things my father said to me was that should he pass away, if there was some way of letting me know he was going to be ok, it was by, in some shape or form, presenting me with a white feather."

2) John Lennon's Childhood Home

Liverpool

The National Trust offers a joint tour of the childhood homes of John Lennon (Mendips) and Paul McCartney (20 Forthlin Road). This is a unique, once in a lifetime, opportunity to see John and Paul's humble beginnings and where The Beatles met and composed many of their early songs.

3) Magical Mystery Tour

Liverpool

All aboard the Magical Mystery Bus for a tour which takes in the places that inspired some of the Beatles most famous songs like Penny Lane and Strawberry Field. The tour finishes at the legendary Cavern Club where you can present your ticket for an exclusive souvenir from your trip.

4) The Cavern Club

Liverpool

The Cavern Club opened as a jazz club in 1957 and is where the Beatles were discovered by Brian Epstein, on November 9, 1961. The Beatles went on to perform here another 291 times in the early 1960s, propelling the Cavern Club into the worldwide spotlight and making it one of the most famous clubs in the UK. Special Lennon tribute shows will take place until December 8th, 2010.

5) Hard Day's Night Hotel

Liverpool

This 'Fab Four Star Hotel' in the heart of Liverpool is the perfect place for any Beatles enthusiast to rest their head after a day of sightseeing. Housed in a stunning landmark building, all rooms feature a tasteful selection of original Beatles artwork. Die-hard Lennon fans may opt to splash out on the aptly named, 'Lennon Suite' which features a white baby grand piano – perfect for making your own music.

6) Victoria Gallery & Museum

Liverpool

This gallery, housed within the University of Liverpool, is hosting an exhibition during the John Lennon Festival (October 9 – December 9) called, "Astrid Kirchherr: A Retrospective." Astrid was the first person to shoot studio shots of The Beatles and her photographs capture their innocence and ambition during their formative steps to stardom, when Pete Best was the drummer and Stuart Sutcliffe was the bass player.

7) The Beatles Story

Liverpool

Located in Liverpool's famed Albert Dock area, this interactive museum follows the Fab Four from their early beginnings to global Beatlemania. The Beatle Story recently tripled in size and will be hosting a range of special events throughout the John Lennon Tribute Season.

8) Abbey Road & Abbey Road Studios

London

One of the most photographed spots in all of London has to be the cross-walk or 'zebra crossing' (as the Brits call it) on Abbey Road. While the exact crossing is a busy intersection today, fans from all over the world still flock to the site just a few blocks away from St John's Wood Tube station. Check out the live webcam of the crossing and find out more about Abbey Road Studios by clicking here.

9) Beatles Walks

London

Another great way to see The Beatles' London is by taking a walking tour. Two of the best are from London Walks. If mobility is an issue, or you're keen to cover a bit more ground, Access All Areas rock tours, offer a range of great Beatles options in both London and Liverpool.

10) The London Beatles Store

London

Located at 231 Baker Street, this is a popular spot for picking up a range of unique souvenirs. A few blocks down the road at 94 Baker Street, fans can see the Blue English Heritage plaque for John Lennon which sits above the spot where the Beatle's retail shop, Apple Boutique, used to stand.

*This is a side of John we seldom were able to see .. He loved Life and I want to Thank the Morrison Gallery in New York for all the great John Lennon Images..
Julian Lennon has a Art show at the Morrison .. Stay tuned I will be posting some of those Images soon:))

Shortly after John Lennon moved to New York in 1971, Bob became John and Yoko’s personal photographer and friend, making photos of their working life as well as private moments. In 1974 he created the iconic images of John Lennon wearing a New York City t-shirt and, standing in front of the Statue of Liberty making the peace sign - two of the most popular of Lennon’s images.

Bob has worked with major rock acts such as Led Zeppelin, The Who, David Bowie, Tina Turner, Elton John, Aerosmith, Kiss & Alice Cooper. In 1989, he documented the epic trip to Russia of the “Moscow Music Peace Festival” featuring Ozzy Osbourne, Motley Crue and Bon Jovi. For many years Bob was the official photographer for the New York New Music Seminar, covering dozens of aspiring new bands in the course of a summer week.

As chief photographer for Rock Scene Magazine in the ‘70s, Bob specialized in candid, behind the scenes photo features. He toured extensively with the emerging punk and new wave bands including the New York Dolls, Sex Pistols, Clash, Ramones, Patti Smith Group and Blondie.

This seminal body of work reflects a profound commitment and long-standing personal friendship with the artists. His wealth of personal experiences and uncanny memory provide the most illuminating and comprehensive histories of rock youth culture.

His work has been published in magazines and documentaries around the world, and he has had books of his work with John Lennon, the Clash, Sex Pistols, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and New York Dolls

*FOOD TRUCKS ‘RACE’ TO CONQUER THE HOTTEST NEW TREND

Tyler Florence Hosts Cross-Country Culinary Journey in ‘The Great Food Truck Race’
Premieres: Sunday, August 15th at 10PM; Post-Premiere Timeslot: Sundays at 9PM

NEW YORK – JULY 12, 2010 –Amazing chefs across the country are leaving traditional restaurants behind and
hitting the streets in mobile kitchens serving some of the most unique and delicious dishes ever tasted. Food
Network’s new primetime series, The Great Food Truck Race, features seven such gourmet food trucks as they
embark on an epic coast-to-coast culinary road trip to convince Americans to step outside their culinary comfort
zones and try something new – from a truck. Tyler Florence hosts this six-episode competition premiering Sunday,
August 15th at 10pm ET/PT; the series resumes in its regular timeslot of Sundays at 9pm ET/PT on August 22nd.
From out-of-the-box sandwiches, burgers, and crepes to unique takes on Vietnamese, French, and Cajun cuisines,
the trucks compete in weekly challenges to see who can sell the most food and race to the next episode while the
losing team drives home. The last truck standing wins a $50,000 grand prize.

“Not only does the series focus on a hot new culinary trend, but the drama of the competition pushes these
teams’ cooking skills, business savvy and relationships to their limit,” said General Manager/Senior Vice President
Programming, Bob Tuschman.

The seven trucks include: Austin Daily Press (Austin, Texas), Crepes Bonaparte (Fullerton, Calif.), Grill ‘Em
All (Los Angeles, Calif.), Nana Queens (Culver City, Calif.), Nom Nom Truck (Los Angeles, Calif.), Ragin’
Cajun (Hermosa Beach, Calif.), and Spencer on the Go (San Francisco, Calif.). Click here for team bios.

In the premiere, the teams meet Tyler in Los Angeles, the center of the food truck revolution, and the race begins
with the teams’ first game-changing twist known in each episode as the Truck Stop challenge: Instead of starting
in Los Angeles, the race commences in San Diego. To even the playing field, the teams begin with empty trucks
and an equal amount of seed money. They have three days to prepare, promote and sell their food by any means
necessary. After a weekend of triumphs, teamwork, and tests of character, the totals are tallied and the trucks find
out who continues the great race and who goes home. New twists and turns arise as the race continues through
Santa Fe, N.M.; Ft. Worth, Texas; New Orleans; Jonesborough, Tenn., and concludes as the final two trucks race
to the finish line through the hungry streets of New York City’s five boroughs. Guest chefs throughout the season

Join Red Velvet Media as we talk to Wayne Cobham!

This will be a fun show and I am super excited to be able to talk to the great Wayne Cobham!
This Friday July 16 at 2pst/5 est Wayne will join me on Red Velvet Media Blogtalk Radio!
Wayne has done so much and I am in awe of what great music he has created ..I will be playing a few selected tunes along with interviewing him and hearing how he got started .:))
Just a little info on "Wayne"))
After more than 35 years as an entertainer, Wayne Cobham still derives the utmost of pleasure from performing. Wayne has been playing trumpet since his early childhood. His career began in the drum and bugle corps of New York. He was hooked on the trumpet for life.

In his teenage years, it seemed a natural progression for Wayne to move on to his own bands. He gathered around himself some of the finest young musicians available. All the while, Wayne was building a strong following and solid reputation as a highly respected trumpet player throughout the flourishing New York music scene.
In the late 70’s Wayne found a new love that would bring him parallel acclaim to his prowess with his horn. Computer programming was in its infancy and Wayne became one of its pioneers. Wayne was a major part of the MIDI revolution, and fostered a productive business as, consultant, clinician, producer, and educator. Using his new-found computer skills, he provided consultation to many well known musicians who wished to incorporate the cutting edge tools of the trade. His computer skills were utilized over many different genres of music including but not limited to hip hop, R&B, rock and roll, jazz, pop and gospel garnering him 2 Grammys along the way. These acknowledgements led to his membership and voting status with NARAS.

Additionally, he was also in high demand as a performer and has toured the world playing trumpet with such notable entertainers as Ben E. King, Cameo, The Temptations, Little Anthony and the Imperials, The Four Tops, Ray Charles, Billy Cobham, Taylor Dane, Loredana Berté, Lou Reed, Kool and the Gang, Nancy Wilson, and Denise Williams to name a few. However, it does not stop there! His studio credits include Michael Jackson, Pieces of a Dream, Nancy Wilson, Denise Williams, Patti Austin, and Billy Cobham. His production credits include Gwen McRae, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Taylor Dane, Billy Cobham, and Guy with Teddy Reilly among others.

Over the past five years and until the death of Wilson Pickett in 2006, Wayne was on the road touring with and served as the Musical Director for Wilson Pickett and his band, The Midnight Movers. Now he has partnered with brotha.deep to collaborate on some new music.

Join Red Velvet Media as we talk to Artist Xany Rudolff!

Join Red Velvet Media as we talk to Artist Xany Rudolff! Xany Rudoff is a Los Angeles-based artist who works primarily as a painter, but has dabbled in acting, interior design and wardrobe styling. Born in Pasadena to an artist mother and art historian father, Rudoff moved with her family to the desert expanse of Apple Valley, CA, a site that would be crucial for her artistic development. In the wide, empty nothingness of the desert landscape, there were no limitations to Rudoff’s imagining, and upon returning to Los Angeles proper to get her B.A. in fine arts at the University of California, Los Angeles, she was able to see the city and the art world from the outside. Rudoff has previously participated in and organized group and benefit shows of her art and will be showing her most recent work, the Icon Series — which transforms vintage record albums and rock icons with the techniques used in Renaissance icon paintings — in a solo show this summer. She has been featured in the New York Times Magazine, Los Angeles magazine and Vanity Fair. Xany Rudoff's most notable collectors include: Benicio Del Toro, Pink, Alan McGee (Creation Records co-founder)

Red Velvet Media talks aboutQuadrophenia..A way of life..

This week on Blog Talk Radio I will be talking to Alex G. MardikianClick here to see Alex in his Von Dutch days!
Alex takes Quadrophenia on as a great passion for all and is making the dream come true with his ideas of bringing back the WAY OF LIFE and the Mod:)
Tune in to Red Velvet Media Blogtalk Radio this Friday at 2pm PST/5est to hear what he has in store for all of every age!Click here to go to show page!

Quadrophenia
If you’re from the United Kingdom and you’ve watched Quadrophenia (1979), for you it would be a film about your country in the 1960s but for everyone else unfamiliar with the Mod culture, it would probably not make so much sense. The film written and directed by Franc Roddam has been classified as an A-grade cult-classic, an influential factor of the Mod-revival of the 1980s and above-all just a damn good film. The film stars Phil Daniels in perhaps the most important performance of his underrated career and Sting (yes, the musician) in his first ever appearance on film. Surprisingly, even though Phil Daniels carries the entire film on his 21-year old shoulders, most of the publicity material and other marketing mostly featured the then rising music star Sting, who appears for less than 10 minutes in the entire film. Ray Winstone is featured in one of his earliest roles giving a short but memorable performance as a kind-hearted rocker.

Quadrophenia was made in 1979, a time when Mod culture had completely disappeared and the bohemian lifestyle of the rock music scene caught mass appeal. The film is set in 1964, the peak point of the Mod revolution and the crucial year of the infamous Brighton riot, often cited as the biggest fight between the Mods and the Rockers. The film’s name is taken from the famous album by The Who with the same name. Ironically, many of the famous Mod bands including The Who turned towards Rock music once the Mod culture started to decline in the mid-1970s.

For further understanding of the film and this article, here’s a crash-course in Mod culture.

Mod Culture 101

Here’s an excerpt from the Culture wiki:

“The mod subculture began with a few cliques of teenage boys with family connections to the garment trade in London in 1958. These early mods were generally middle class, and were obsessed with new fashions and music styles, such as slim-cut Italian suits, modern jazz and rhythm and blues. Their all-night urban social life was fuelled, in part, by amphetamines. It is a popular belief that the mods and their rivals, the rockers, both branched off from the Teddy boys, a 1950s subculture in England. The Teddy boys were influenced by American rock n’ roll, wore Edwardian-style clothing, and got pompadour or quiff hairstyles.

Originally the term mod was used to describe fans of modern jazz music (as opposed to trad, for fans of traditional jazz). Eventually the definition of mod expanded beyond jazz to include other fashion and lifestyle elements, such as continental clothes, scooters and to a lesser degree a taste for pop art, French New Wave films and existentialist philosophy. The 1959 novel Absolute Beginners by Colin MacInnes has often been cited as an inside look at the late 1950s teenage London culture that spawned the 1960s mod scene.

Mods gathered at all-night clubs such as The Scene and The Flamingo in London, and Twisted Wheel Club in Manchester, to show off their clothes and dance moves. They typically used scooters for transportation, usually either Vespa or Lambretta. One reason for this is that public transit stopped relatively early, and scooters were cheaper than cars. After a law was passed requiring at least one mirror be attached to every motorbike, many mods added 4, 10, or even 32 mirrors to their scooters as a mockery of the new law.

Members of the rockers subculture (associated with motorcycles and leather biker jackets) sometimes clashed with the mods, leading to battles in seaside resorts such as Brighton, Margate, and Hastings in 1964. The mods and rockers conflict led to a moral panic about modern youth in the United Kingdom.”

Since its birth in 1949, the 45 has provided a creative outlet for graphic designers and artists, who have used the seven-inch record sleeve as a canvas, a place to experiment visually and to express the aesthetics and sentiments of the times. In FIVE HUNDRED 45s: A Graphic History of the Seven-Inch Record (Collins Design; Trade Paperback Original; June 1, 2010; $29.99; 9780061782411), Spencer Drate and Judith Salavetz have created an amazing anthology of more than 500 examples of great record sleeve design. Organized thematically, with graphically compelling pairings on every spread, this book covers every genre of music and great musician from 1950–2000, from the swing of Frank Sinatra to the early rock of Elvis Presley, from Bruce Springsteen to Blondie, from the Pretenders to Nirvana. Music fans, vinyl freaks, graphic designers, and pop culture enthusiasts will be inspired by this visually rich, diverse collection and consider it a must for their libraries.

The book also includes an introduction by Lenny Kaye, guitarist for the Patti Smith Group and music critic, and essays on the subject of the 45 from a music industry and graphic design perspective by Bruce Licher, acclaimed album cover designer; Tom Hazelmyer, owner of record company Amphetamine Reptile; Stuart Goldman, avid 45 sleeve collector; John Foster, principal at the design firm Bad People Good Things LLC; and Eric Davidson, associate editor at CMJ. It is a lush and wild ride through designs that are just as iconic as the music they adorned.

About the Authors

Spencer Drate and Judith Salavetz are creative directors, graphic designers, and writers who have designed album art for U2, Lou Reed, the Ramones, Velvet Underground, Talking Heads, the Beach Boys, Bon Jovi, Joan Jett, and Dave Valentin, to name a few. Drate is a member of the Grammy Award committee for record design.

Drate and Salavetz have been interviewed regarding topics in the music industry on MTV, VH1, Fox 5, and major magazines. They have written and packaged numerous pop-culture books, including Swag-Rock Posters of the 90s and Beyond (Abrams Books), The Independent Movie Poster Book (Abrams Books), Pure Animation (Merrell Publishers), Motion by Design (Laurence King), The Art of the Modern Movie Poster (Chronicle Books), and their first book, 45 RPM: A Visual History of the Seven-Inch Record (Princeton Architectural Press). Red Velvet Media and Band of innocence!

Join me as I talk to Robert Agnello about his project Band of Innocence.. This is a way cool concept and not a show to miss tune in:))

This is part of the concept..
In the beginning Mother Nature and the Gods created the Earth and filled it with
life... the elements, plants, and animals. Then they created man and all lived in
harmony. As time passed a shadow invaded the world.
A darkness. This shadow caused man to separate from the original, harmonious
ways the Gods had intended for him.
Seeing that man was turning towards the darkness, rather than to the light of the
world, the Gods hid their powers in an amulet along with a sword of light and a suit of
armor that only the most innocent could wear.
It was an innocence that could only be found in children.
This is when the Band Of Innocence was born.

Also Joining H2Om founders on the show will be prosperity mentor Marilyn Jenett, founder of the Feel Free to Prosper program, speaking on the power of our words and how our subconscious mind has the ability to manifest all that we desire. She will also discuss Universal laws and principles for changing your life by changing your words, thoughts and feelings. Marilyn states that, "Every word we speak, every thought we think, and every emotion we feel is recorded in the subconscious mind. Through repetition or with enough faith or emotional impact, the subconscious will accept our words as a command and will create subjectively and also attract and magnetize circumstances, conditions and persons to ensure the manifestation of our “order." Even words spoken casually can bypass the conscious mind and drop into the subconscious and take root. It has been said, “the subconscious mind cannot take a joke.” Seemingly harmless expressions, if accepted by the subconscious, can produce undesirable results in our lives."

In the Spring of 2009 TIME Magazine recognized H2Om as the leader in this movement and wrote "Move over organic, fair trade and free range, the latest in enlightened edibles is here, food with positive intentions." and dedicated a full page to the company and their mission.

The Love foundation and Red Velvet Media

Please Tune in this FridayClick here to go to Red Velvet Media Radio February 5th at 2pm PST 5 EST to hear my guest Harold Becker of
The Love Foundation......

"The Love Foundation"
This is the latest message from Harold ...:))
Latest Message from TLF Founder
We are forever surrounded by love. From the rays of the sun that nurture and sustain life on our precious planet, to extending a helping hand to another in need, our existence is found within this unifying principle we know in our heart as love. Life itself is the expression of unconditional love and you are here right now simply because you are a magnificent presence of this same love.

I Love Unconditionally...

I love unconditionally... Become conscious of this simple intention and view your life from a different perspective, if even for just one day. Think about unconditional love and what it really means to you. Allow yourself to open up and actually feel the love you already have within. Accept the aspects of life that challenge you, whether from your past, present or view of the future. Decide to let love be your response to everyone and everything. See all life interconnected, joyful and safe. Choose to enjoy life no matter how difficult it may have been or how challenging you may perceive it to be. Just let love be your focus for the day and see what happens.

Red Velvet Media & Holly's Valentine Gifts suggestions –She will love it!

Red Velvet Media or I should say "Holly"(me) is no stranger to Valentine’s Day.
I remember last year and the response I got from the cool drink my friends made and I suggested.. Now I'm getting down to what I know all us Girls want!
After all.....We all want to feel girlie!:)))

If you’re after the perfect Valentine’s gift look no further than some of my personal favorite Valentine Gifts suggestions – featuring MY pick"s of the best treats to indulge and excite your lover, and ignite passion in the bedroom! But if you don’t know where to start... Read my Top Tips designed to make sure you give her what's really wanted this Valentine’s Day!
Tip 1: Colours that complement
Whilst scarlet red lingerie may be the tradition, classic black, rich cream and feminine pink are all guaranteed to please.
But if you want to surprise her, take a look in her wardrobe to see her favourite colours.

Most lingerie is available in a beautiful array of colours from vibrant orange to midnight blue.

Tip 2: Know her style
Consider her personal style - is she usually cute and girlie, luxurious and decadent, stylish and sophisticated or adventurous and daring?
No matter what she's like, you can find the perfect Valentine's lingerie set for her.

To get you started, here's some of MY favourites:
* Cute: Love, Minnie, Francoise and Fifi
* Luxurious: Love, Maitre D, Black Swan and Kiki
* Sophisticated: Damsella, Meteorite, Gypsy and Ponytail
* Adventurous: Cendrillon, Marylin, Marquis and Ruxandra

If you've only just met and don't know her too well you may want to try a flirty babydoll,Or if you've been together for a while, while not spice things to with a seductive corset or basque to make her feel utterly fabulous.
I remember a Easter one year and I had just stared Dating a man and he bought me the most girlie pink Lacey Gingham Babydoll with Matching Panties and little bows and the cutest pink and white cotton knee highs.. to Match with bows on top!
I wear knee highs under my jeans or with a dress..They are comfortable and oh so sexy and they are perfect for under boots....Just a Little showing at the top and .. you know what your wearing...!

Tip 3:
Get the size right! I always hated getting a bra that was too small..:(
If possible, take a look inside the labels of her favourite lingerie set to find the size she feels most comfortable in.

Once you know what size you’re after, it's quick & easy way to find something that will fit her.

Tip 4:
Complete the look
To make her feel truly fabulous, choose the bra first and pair it with the style of knicker(Panties) you think she’ll be most comfortable in.
The matching suspender belt(Garters) will make her feel like a true seductress, whilst stockings add an extra touch of glamour.

Spoil her, and watch her bring hosiery and suspenders into her everyday attire!

I personally like thigh Highs and not Garters but.. Garters can be very sexy and fun for some!
Tip 5: Lingerie isn’t the only option
Whilst a seductive lingerie set is always a pleasure to receive,
a slinky slip or curve creating basque is an alternative that never fails to please.

A pair of butter-soft leather over the knee boots will please the discerning fashionista, whilst luxurious beauty products too will make her feel fabulous.
I love wearing boots under Jeans or with a dress.... and Beauty products...Don't get me started..I love Chocolate Orange Body butter by "Fresh" and there SUGAR LEMON line is a must...the Soaps are cool too..they come in all sorts of fragrances and are a fun way to indulge! CLICK HERE TO GO TO FRESH! and My favorite thing to do is add real rose water to the final rinse of my hair!
I am often seen gathering rose petals and Lilac when its is season and I custom blend my own oils... Lately it has been Vanilla and Patchouli.. I do like mixing Chocolate with Vanilla too.. It depends on my mood ..But Real oils not synthetic are a real turn on and Last..You can find High quality oils at most essential oil stores.. Make sure they are pure!
Feeling daring? Turn up the heat with playful heart-shaped pasties or a teasing silk eyemask, or let her take control with one of our decadent whips or paddles...

I personally don't use Whips or Paddles but they are fun for the effect!

Tip 6: Have her Create a wish list!
Take the guesswork out of gift giving by asking her to create a wish list.
I have many! Not just the girly stuff but books, Music,Travel destination's, ETC..
Ask her to simply browse the web and save the items she likes in the correct sizes, before sending you her lust-haves.
I have so many bookmarks!I add new ones every day!
My Favorite thing or shall I say most men's favorite thing is most companies offer
Free gift boxes, discreet delivery & free online returns!
They take the hassle out of gift wrapping !
I like the boxes that are pink and girlie!
To maintain the surprise of your gift, Most will be discreetly delivered to your door,Or hers no matter where you are in the world...I never know where I will be!
Ummmm... Paris or a nice Island sounds good to me....As long as there is chocolate ..I'm there!

Happy shopping!
